Maldives faces heavy rain, school construction, and youth unemployment challenges

The Maldives is experiencing a period of significant social, infrastructural, and environmental developments. The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has warned that inclement weather and rain are expected to continue throughout the country until Friday.

In terms of infrastructure, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inspected the ongoing construction of the new Arabiyya School building in Malé. The project, contracted to RCC, aims to establish a modern center for Arabic language education and is expected to be completed by the end of the year to begin operations in the next academic year.

Socially, the nation faces challenges regarding its youth population. Recent data indicates a youth unemployment rate of 16.14% in the first half of 2024.
