Maldives Monetary Authority opens 2026 Research Fund applications

The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has opened applications for its 2026 Research Fund, offering financial support through two primary categories: Independent Research Grants and Book Grants. The initiative is designed to foster a domestic research ecosystem that provides evidence-based insights for the Maldivian economy, supporting decision-making in areas such as monetary policy, financial stability, digital finance, and climate resilience.

Funding is available to individuals, educational institutions, and think tanks. To qualify for research grants, teams must be led by an individual holding at least a master's degree, with the MMA specifically encouraging applications from PhD holders. Priority areas for research include economic stability, inflation dynamics, fintech, tourism, Islamic finance, and social security.

Applications must be submitted by 13 October 2026 via the official MMA Research Fund Portal or through specified contact methods. The fund aims to improve public economic literacy by supporting literature published in both English and Dhivehi.
