Pakistan engages in regional diplomacy and prepares for Maldivian presidential visit

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has undertaken several diplomatic efforts to address regional stability and strengthen bilateral ties. Dar held separate telephonic discussions with the foreign ministers of Iran and Egypt to discuss regional tensions and promote peace. During his conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the focus remained on regional challenges and the upcoming OIC Foreign Ministers' Council meeting in Baghdad. In a separate call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Dar condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed support for Saudi sovereignty.

Simultaneously, Pakistan is preparing for a three-day state visit by Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu from October 20 to 22. This marks the first visit by a Maldivian president to Pakistan in 11 years, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. President Muizzu is expected to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss cooperation in trade, investment, defense, maritime security, and climate change. A Pakistan-Maldives Business Forum will be held to explore new economic opportunities, and several memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed during the visit.
