Maldives sees new e-commerce payment options and major investment news

The Maldives is seeing significant developments in its commercial and investment sectors. The platform ‘Global Dukaan’ has announced it will begin accepting Maldivian Rufiyaa for transactions. This service facilitates shopping from major Indian e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra, allowing users to purchase fashion, electronics, and household goods and have them delivered to the Maldives without being restricted by foreign currency limits.

Separately, Finance Minister Hasan Zareer highlighted the importance of the $20 billion Eagle Hills project in Malé. He stated that the involvement of the Abu Dhabi-based developer, which has a global reputation, serves as a sign of confidence in the Maldives. The Minister noted that such large-scale investments are expected to boost investor confidence, improve the country's credit rating, and assist the private sector in securing foreign financing.
