Maldives tourism reaches 1.52 million arrivals amid ATM preparations

Maldives tourism reached 1.52 million arrivals this year, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism. While this figure exceeds the total for the same period in 2024, it represents a 3.6 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. China remains the largest source of tourists with 279,410 arrivals, followed by Russia with 218,445. Other significant markets include the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and India.

To bolster the sector, Maldives is preparing for the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) fair at the Dubai World Trade Centre from the 14th to the 17th of this month. A delegation of 165 representatives from 74 Maldivian companies, including resorts and guesthouses, will participate. The Visit Maldives Corporation is finalizing preparations to promote the nation's tourism industry. Planned activities include signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with major entities such as Qatar Airways, Emirates, and the tour operator Dinata.
