Maldives development projects and gaming event announcements

The Maldives is seeing significant activity across various sectors, including infrastructure, gaming, and regional development. The Dhiraagu Maldives Gaming Conquest (DMGC) 2026 has been announced, scheduled to take place from November 26 to 28 at Kalafaanu School. Organized by the Dhiraagu Games Guild, the event features competitions in mobile, PC, and console platforms, including PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with a total prize pool of 150,000 Rufiyaa.

In infrastructure, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is commencing asphalt work on Segment 3 of the Ameeni Magu road project. This follows the successful completion of Segments 1 and 2. Meanwhile, Minister of Finance and Economic Development Hassan Zareer reported that 1,273 development projects are currently underway across the country. He noted that while global conflicts have caused some delays in material procurement for harbor projects, the government is actively monitoring progress to ensure completion.

Regional development is also a focus, particularly in Ungoofaaru, which is being developed as an urban center. Key projects in the area include the construction of a FIFA-standard stadium, the expansion of school classrooms, the upgrading of the regional hospital to tertiary level, and a 500-housing unit development plan.
