Maldonado authorities review beach bar bids and convention center growth

The Intendencia de Maldonado has opened bids for the five-year concession of the beach bar at Playa Brava, located near the 'Los Dedos' sculpture in Punta del Este. Four companies have submitted proposals: Donato Alas SAS, Vides SA, Careza SA, and Parador Playa Brava SAS. Donato Alas SAS submitted the highest offer, proposing an annual fee of $2,007,000 and approximately $88 million in works for restoration and remodeling.

Separately, the Punta del Este Convention Center celebrated its 10th anniversary by releasing its economic impact report. Between 2016 and 2025, the center hosted 214 events with over 307,000 attendees, generating 12,828 jobs. The total economic impact during this period reached $198 million, with a direct impact of $87 million. Officials noted that the facility has positioned Uruguay as a regional hub for MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism.
