Maldonado court sentences man to 24 months for theft and assault

Jonathan Daniel Perna Ascorreta, a 30-year-old man with a criminal record, has been sentenced to 24 months of effective prison time by the Maldonado Court. The sentence follows multiple criminal acts committed in Maldonado and Piriápolis.

On September 3, Perna Ascorreta entered a residence on Las Piedras Street in Piriápolis and stole two mobile phones valued at approximately 10,000 pesos. He was identified through investigations by the Zona Operacional I and subsequently apprehended by the High Operational Dedication Program (P.A.D.O.) on September 8.

Additionally, the defendant was held accountable for a July 27 incident in Piriápolis, where he broke into a private home and physically assaulted a resident, causing serious injuries. The court convicted him of home invasion, aggravated intentional serious injury, and aggravated theft, applying the sentence under a regime of real reiteration.
