Male breast cancer cases double in Yucatán Peninsula

Male breast cancer cases in the Yucatán Peninsula doubled in 2026, rising from six diagnoses in the same period of 2025 to 12 cases. According to epidemiological surveillance reports from the Federal Government's Ministry of Health, these cases were identified across Quintana Roo, Yucatán, and Campeche.

Campeche accounted for 75% of the regional total with nine cases. In 2025, Campeche had recorded six male patients, while Quintana Roo and Yucatán had reported no cases during that period. Medical specialists emphasize the importance of recognizing symptoms and seeking timely medical evaluations, noting that while male diagnoses remain less frequent than female ones, the regional increase highlights the need for broader awareness.
