Mali Council of Ministers Approves National Anti‑Mendicancy Strategy

On 7 August 2026 the Mali Council of Ministers met in the Palais de Koulouba under the chairmanship of General Assimi Goïta, President of the Transition. The cabinet adopted a decree approving the National Strategy to combat mendicancy and its 2026‑2028 action plan, aimed at sustainably reducing begging, especially among children, through preventive, protective and inclusive measures.

The session also approved an ordinance setting the fiscal resources for local authorities, following recent administrative‑territorial reforms that introduced new laws on the governance of communes, regions and the Bamako District. The ordinance will allocate funds to communes, regions and the district under the new legal framework.
