Mali Digital Week 2026 Emphasizes Sovereignty and Youth Training

The fourth edition of the Semaine du Numérique (Digital Week) concluded on 1 August 2026 at the International Conference Centre in Bamako. The event was chaired by Mali’s Prime Minister, General Abdoulaye Maïga, and attended by delegations from Burkina Faso and Niger, underscoring a regional push for a Sahel‑wide digital ecosystem. Health Minister Assa Badiallo Touré also took part, highlighting the Ministry of Health and Social Development’s digital health initiatives through the National Tele‑health and Medical Informatics Agency (ANTIM).

Key announcements included a partnership with the Kabako association to train 15 000 young Malians for digital jobs, the continued work of the Centre of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and the launch of the African Gaming and e‑Sports Salon (SAGE 2026). The week also featured the 5th Digital Cup, won by Moov Malitel Africa over Orange Mali in a penalty shoot‑out. These initiatives aim to boost digital sovereignty, innovation and inclusive growth across Mali and the broader Sahel region.
