Mali Lošinj opens rebuilt Vela Riva waterfront

The reconstructed Vela Riva in Mali Lošinj, Croatia, was inaugurated after a €2.9 million capital project covering 2,213 sqm of the operating coastline. Funding came mainly from the Ministry of Maritime, Transport and Infrastructure (€2.029 million), with additional contributions from the County Port Authority (€673 k) and the Primorsko‑Goranska County (€213 k).

Construction by Sun Adria, overseen by Rijeka Project, replaced aged stone paving along a 90‑metre stretch, added a new ticket office, modern urban equipment and new horticultural landscaping. The ceremony at the Museum of Apoksiomen featured a performance by the folk group Manfrina and was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Oleg Butković, County Prefect Ivica Lukanović, Mayor Ana Kučić and Port Authority director Mario Franković. Lukanović highlighted the project's importance, noting that “the name ‘Vela’ is not without reason – it is an extremely important object and investment for Mali Lošinj.”
