Mali public opinion poll shows high support for transition

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung released the results of its 17th Mali-Mètre opinion poll in Bamako, revealing high levels of public support for Mali’s current transition government. According to the survey, which sampled 2,220 adults across ten regional capitals and Bamako, 88.5% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the management of the transition.

Additionally, 72.1% of institutional actors expressed confidence in the President of the Transition. The data indicates that 54.5% of Malians believe the country’s general situation has improved over the last year, with optimism for continued improvement reaching 77.7% among those surveyed.

The survey also highlighted significant support for the military, with a 94.2% satisfaction rate for the Defense and Security Forces. Over half of the respondents (55.3%) view the armed forces as a source of national pride and a symbol of unity. Furthermore, 74.6% of participants reported a perceived decrease in insecurity within their respective regions.
