Mali targets 6.3% growth by 2026 as OECD updates Asian GDP forecasts
Mali's transitional president, Assimi Goïta, has announced an economic growth target of 6.3% for 2026, an increase from the estimated 5.6% for 2025. This target exceeds projections from the IMF (5.5%) and the African Development Bank (6.0%). The government's strategy focuses on mining sector reforms and enhanced domestic tax collection. Significant funds have been allocated to local mining development and national infrastructure projects involving energy, water, and transport.
Separately, the OECD has maintained its 2026 GDP growth forecast for China at 4.5%, though it lowered the 2027 projection to 4.2%. In contrast, the OECD raised growth expectations for South Korea and India, with India's current year forecast increasing to 7.1%.
