Mali women's basketball defeats Spain 82-73 in historic World Cup win

The Mali women's national basketball team achieved a historic victory against Spain, winning 82-73 during the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Berlin. This win marks the first time the Mali team has won a match in the first round of a World Cup.

After an initial loss to Japan, Mali secured the win by dominating the third quarter with a 31-19 run. Key individual performances included Sika Koné, who recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Djénéba Ndiaye, who scored 19 points. Other contributors included Alima Dembélé with 11 points and Rokia Doumbia, who provided 9 assists.

Spain, which had previously defeated Germany 83-53, was unable to overcome Mali's physical impact and collective rhythm. Iyana Martín led the Spanish scoring with 20 points.
