Malik Muhammad II emerges as standout for Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears rookie cornerback Malik Muhammad II has emerged as a standout performer following the team's Week Three victory against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Selected in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft from the University of Texas, Muhammad has demonstrated significant versatility by playing both nickel and perimeter roles.

Muhammad made franchise history by becoming the first rookie cover man to record both an interception and a sack within his first two games. Through the first three weeks of the season, he has allowed only five catches on 12 targets for 76 yards, resulting in a 28.5 passer rating allowed.

During the Monday Night Football broadcast, commentator Joe Buck reported that Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen suggested Muhammad may be the team's best cover man. This high praise comes as the Bears' secondary navigates injuries to Kyler Gordon and inconsistent play from veteran Jaylon Johnson.
