Malik Nabers participates in contact drills amid injury recovery

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has taken a significant step in his recovery from a torn ACL by participating in team drills without a non-contact red jersey. During a shells practice, Nabers participated in both 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills, catching six passes from various quarterbacks.

Giants head coach John Harbaugh noted that while Nabers is progressing well and is in a strong position, he would not guarantee the receiver's availability for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on September 13. Harbaugh emphasized that Nabers' readiness depends on how he handles practice and protects himself as contact increases.

Other injury updates from the practice included tight end Theo Johnson, who left the field following a collision with Kayvon Thibodeaux, though no serious injury was immediately reported. Additionally, starting right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor missed practice but is expected to return Tuesday.
