Mallikarjun Kharge demands immediate implementation of women's reservation
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has called on the central government to implement the 33 percent women's reservation immediately without waiting for the delimitation process. Speaking at a rally in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, Kharge argued that the government could grant reservation based on the current number of Lok Sabha seats.
Kharge accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to defame the opposition by portraying them as opponents of women's reservation. He emphasized that the Congress party's struggle is focused on protecting democracy and the Constitution rather than seeking power.
Additionally, Kharge raised concerns regarding electoral reforms, questioning the role of the Chief Election Commissioner and advocating for a return to ballot papers instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to ensure transparency and prevent irregularities in voter lists.
