Mallorca hotel federation to study labor absenteeism

The Mallorca Hotel Business Federation (FEHM) has announced plans to conduct an exhaustive study on labor absenteeism within the Balearic hospitality sector. The research will specifically target accommodation, catering, and nightlife industries to determine the scale, causes, and evolution of absenteeism.

Findings from this study will be presented to the Observatory for Productivity and against Absenteeism, a body composed of employers and unions. The goal is to establish a shared diagnostic framework to define action plans and evaluate their effectiveness. FEHM executive vice president María José Aguiló noted that the results will influence the negotiation of the upcoming collective bargaining agreement for the sector.

The initiative follows a meeting in Palma attended by the Minister of Labor, Public Function, and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer, to discuss projects funded by new government grants focused on absenteeism, equality, and work-life balance.
