Mallorca sees surge in summer pests as invasive ants and tiger mosquitoes spread

Experts report that the unusually warm summer has intensified pest activity on the Balearic island of Mallorca. While cockroach infestations have started later than usual, they are now reaching full strength, and several invasive ant species—including the Singapore ant, Argentine ant, and crazy ant—are expanding across urban areas. The tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus), a known carrier of dengue and chikungunya, is identified as the most concerning health vector on the island.
