Mallorca social aid funds remain unreleased despite crisis

The PSIB (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands) has criticized the Consell de Mallorca for failing to distribute promised financial aid intended to mitigate the economic consequences of the Iran war crisis. Although President Llorenç Galmés announced a nine-million-euro social shield, PSIB spokesperson Sofia Alonso stated that the funds have not yet materialized, leaving families to face rising inflation and financial hardship.

Alonso also criticized the administration's method of channeling aid through local municipalities without prior coordination, arguing it adds unnecessary bureaucratic pressure to already strained municipal social services. Additionally, the PSIB condemned a residency requirement of five years to access the aid, a condition attributed to the Vox party, warning it could exclude migrants and vulnerable populations.
