Balearic Islands approves fuel subsidies for taxi and VTC drivers

The Balearic Islands Government has announced the approval of 178 subsidies for taxi and Vehicle with Driver (VTC) services to mitigate rising fuel costs caused by the conflict in the Middle East.

For the taxi sector, the proposal includes 147 grants totaling nearly 31,400 euros. The Directorate General for Mobility is preparing a second resolution following 553 applications. For VTC services, all 31 submitted applications have been approved, amounting to 28,950 euros.

In Ibiza, aid amounts are higher than in Mallorca due to double insularity criteria. This initiative is part of a broader aid package totaling 9.85 million euros across seven different transport lines, which also cover freight and discretionary passenger transport. To date, the government has processed 751 aid proposals exceeding 5.4 million euros.
