Malmöfestivalen concludes eight-day cultural event in Sweden

The Malmöfestivalen has concluded its eight-day run, featuring over one thousand program points across approximately 20 stages and venues. Organizers described the 2026 edition as successful, noting that favorable weather contributed significantly to the atmosphere and visitor numbers.

Project leaders Jessica Nilsson and Pontus Friberg highlighted several new elements, including a catwalk designed to bring artists closer to the audience and directional signage to manage crowds following major performances. Security efforts involved close collaboration between the festival organization, police, medical staff, and social workers to ensure a safe environment.

While exact final attendance figures were not officially released, police estimates suggest around one million people visited the festival, compared to 1.4 million in previous years. Musical highlights included performances by Oskar Linnros, Myriam Fares, and Einstürzende Neubauten. The next festival is scheduled for August 13–20, 2027.
