Malpensa Airport officials seize 605 collectible cards worth 27,000 euros
Customs officials and the Guardia di Finanza at Malpensa Airport seized 605 collectible cards from a passenger arriving from Tokyo. The collection, which includes popular Pokémon and One Piece series, has an estimated commercial value exceeding 27,000 euros.
The passenger attempted to enter the European Union through the “nothing to declare” lane without disclosing the goods. The items were found hidden within a suitcase, a trolley, and a backpack. Some of the cards were professionally graded and certified, contributing to their high valuation.
Authorities estimate that the traveler evaded approximately 6,900 euros in customs duties and VAT. The goods have been placed under administrative seizure for confiscation, and the individual faces charges for violating customs regulations.
