Malpensa Airport: Passenger saved from cardiac arrest by bystander
A man in his seventies was saved from cardiac arrest at Malpensa Airport's Terminal 1 on Friday morning. After disembarking from a flight, the man sat on a bench and appeared to be sleeping, but a passerby noticed his irregular breathing and realized he was unconscious.
The woman immediately called emergency services and began performing CPR. She utilized an automated external defibrillator (AED) located in the airport corridors. Following five shocks from the device, the man’s heart restarted and he regained consciousness before medical professionals arrived.
Emergency responders from the Red Cross of Gallarate and medical teams stabilized the man, who was subsequently transported to a hospital in Busto Arsizio for further care. The woman who performed the life-saving intervention left the scene without providing her name.
