Malta hosts Liechtenstein in international friendly
Malta’s senior national football team is set to host Liechtenstein in an international friendly at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali this Sunday. The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:30 CEST.
The fixture serves as part of an extended September-October international window and is intended to prepare the squad for the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign. Malta is currently positioned in League D Group D1 alongside Andorra and Gibraltar. The team enters this match following a 2-1 comeback victory against Andorra.
Head coach Emilio De Leo intends to use the match to assess player form, maintain match fitness, and integrate squad members during a demanding period of four international fixtures. De Leo noted that while the team may see changes in the starting line-up, he aims to maintain continuity and intensity. The squad includes players such as Teddy Teuma, Matthew Guillaumier, and Zach Muscat, with Joseph Mbong expected to return from a one-match ban.
