Malta issues orange heat warning as temperatures feel as hot as 42°C

Malta has issued an orange heat warning for the final week of August as temperatures are expected to rise significantly. The Malta International Airport Met Office forecasts maximum temperatures reaching up to 37°C, with heat indices potentially making it feel as hot as 42°C.

From Wednesday, August 26, through Sunday, August 30, daily highs are expected to range between 36°C and 37°C. Thursday is projected to be the hottest day, with an actual temperature of 37°C and a perceived temperature of 42°C. Nighttime minimums will remain high, between 26°C and 27°C, providing little relief from the heat. Additionally, the UV index is forecast to remain at a very high level of 9 throughout the week.
