Malta showcases ancient megalithic temples and modern cultural events

The Maltese archipelago, including the islands of Malta, Gozo, and Comino, features significant archaeological and cultural landmarks. The islands are home to Neolithic megalithic temples built between 3800 BC and 2500 BC, which are among the oldest free-standing structures in the world, predating the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge. Notable sites include the Ġgantija temples on Gozo, known locally as the ‘Tower of the Giants’.

In addition to its ancient history, Malta is a growing hub for contemporary culture and film. The Mediterrane Film Festival recently brought industry professionals to the islands. During the festivities, the Corinthia Palace Malta hosted the ‘Icons of Film’ exhibition, a collaboration with Arts Council Malta and VisitMalta, featuring portraits by photographer Lorenzo Agius.
