Maltepe Theatre Festival features play on Gaza women's lives

During the fourth day of the 8th International Maltepe Theatre Festival in Turkey, the Al-Kasaba Theatre Group from Palestine presented a play titled ‘Deep Voices’ (Derin Sesler). The production, written by Tahani Salim and directed by Sawsan Darwaza, depicts the humanitarian crisis in Gaza through the real-life experiences of women facing displacement and war.

The play is based on the life story of Farah El-Ghul, illustrating the struggles of Gazan women attempting to survive amidst ongoing conflict. Following the performance, Maltepe Mayor Esin Köymen expressed support for the Palestinian people, stating, “I salute the Palestinians who resist Israel’s long-standing attacks. Your strength is our struggle.”
