Maluku regional developments in education, finance, and indigenous cooperatives

The Maluku Provincial Government has received the 2026 KEJAR Award for being the best regional implementer of the ‘One Account, One Student’ program in the Nusa Tenggara-Maluku-Papua region. The award, presented by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), recognizes efforts to expand financial literacy and inclusion among students.

In Maluku Tengah, the Integrated People's School 1 (Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi 1) has begun welcoming 404 students from underprivileged families. The facility provides education ranging from elementary to high school levels as part of a national strategic program to improve access to quality education.

Additionally, indigenous leaders and traditional councils from Buru Regency met with Governor Hendrik Lewerissa to advocate for the legalization of local cooperatives. The leaders expressed a desire to transition community economic activities, including mining in the Gunung Botak area, into legal and organized cooperative frameworks to ensure compliance with national regulations.
