Malvinas veterans criticize President Milei's sovereignty discourse

Veterans from the Center of Ex-combatants of the Malvinas Islands (CECIM) have criticized President Javier Milei’s recent national address regarding the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands. The organization described the administration's rhetoric as a political tool intended to distract from economic difficulties.

CECIM members characterized the President's discourse as a “galtierazo,” suggesting it mirrors historical political maneuvers used to mask domestic crises. The group highlighted contradictions between the President's claims of novelty regarding sovereignty and existing legal frameworks, such as the Argentine Constitution and UN Resolution 2065.

Furthermore, the organization pointed to the administration's international relations—including ties with the United Kingdom and specific US military officials—as being inconsistent with a firm stance on Malvinas sovereignty. They warned of a systematic plan that may compromise strategic resources in the South Atlantic.
