Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire strengthen bilateral ties during state visit
Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya is conducting a state visit to Côte d'Ivoire, meeting with President Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan to strengthen bilateral ties. The discussions focused on diversifying cooperation across several strategic sectors, including politics, economy, trade, security, and professional training.
Economic cooperation is a primary objective, with leaders noting that current trade volumes do not fully reflect the agricultural and mining potential of both nations. Both countries also committed to intensified efforts against illegal gold mining and pledged to share intelligence to address regional security challenges in West Africa.
As a gesture of reciprocity, Guinea has officially invited Côte d'Ivoire to be the guest of honor at Guinea's national holiday celebrations in October. The visit also saw significant engagement with the Guinean diaspora living in Côte d'Ivoire, who gathered to welcome the president.
