Mamadou Sarr set for season-long loan to Real Sociedad

Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr is close to completing a season-long loan move to La Liga side Real Sociedad. The 20-year-old Senegalese international is seeking regular playing time after a limited role at Chelsea.

Sarr joined Chelsea from Strasbourg in the summer of 2025 for approximately €14 million. Although he was previously recalled to London after a successful loan spell at Strasbourg, he has struggled to break into the first team under head coach Liam Rosenior, making only a handful of appearances.

While Al-Hilal was also reportedly interested in the defender, a move to Spain would allow Sarr to compete in a major European league. Chelsea remains committed to his long-term development, with the player holding a contract that runs until 2033.
