Mamady Diambou joins Stade Brestois to play in Ligue 1
Malian midfielder Mamady Diambou has joined Stade Brestois, fulfilling a lifelong dream to play in France's Ligue 1. Having watched the championship on television since his childhood in Bamako, Diambou expressed his excitement about joining such a competitive league and experiencing the passion of the supporters.
Diambou, who previously spent five years in Salzburg, Austria, noted that he felt an immediate connection to the club, describing it as a ‘very familial’ environment with welcoming people. He also highlighted the comfort of using French, which remains his childhood language.
His transition to Brest is aided by the presence of fellow academy graduate Kamory Doumbia. Both players developed their skills at the Académie Jean-Marc Guillou in Mali, forming a bond that Diambou describes as being like brothers.
