Mamaia celebrates 120 years with launch of therapeutic history book
The book ‘Marea care vindecă. Litoralul românesc, de la Mamaia la Mangalia’ (The Healing Sea. The Romanian Coast, from Mamaia to Mangalia) was launched in the Mamaia resort. Written by Aurelia Lăpușan and Anca Elena Ștefan, the volume serves as an interdisciplinary study of the therapeutic history of the Romanian Black Sea coast.
Organized by OMD Mamaia–Constanța, the event coincided with the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Mamaia resort. The book explores the relationship between the sea and health, covering historical aspects of the coastline alongside scientific explanations regarding the benefits of salt air, sea baths, and thalassotherapy.
Authors Aurelia Lăpușan and Anca Elena Ștefan noted that the work acts as a bridge between the past and the future, highlighting how historical medical recommendations regarding sun exposure and saline air are supported by modern neuroscience and longevity medicine.
