Mamaia resort undergoes motorsport expansion and urban redevelopment

The Mamaia resort in Constanța is undergoing significant changes through both large-scale sporting events and urban redevelopment.

In September 2026, the Seaside Speed Race and the Mamaia Rally Show are scheduled to return to the area. Organized by GT Auto Club Sportiv with support from the Constanța Municipality and the Romanian Automobile Sport Federation, these events will feature national championships including Super Slalom, Junior Slalom, and Electric Vehicles. The rally show aims to transform 55,000 square meters into a motorsport arena to extend the resort's seasonal appeal.

Simultaneously, the resort is seeing structural urban shifts. Development plans include replacing existing structures in the Holiday Village with high-rise hotels and apartments. In the Casino Square area, terraces are being phased out to make way for multi-level hotels. One specific project by Princesse Star SRL involves the demolition of the Corifeu terrace to construct a new hotel featuring a SPA and parking facilities.
