Mamata Banerjee accuses BJP of voter intimidation and misuse of officials

Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the BJP of using money and intimidation to influence voters. In recent statements, Banerjee alleged that government officials, including district magistrates, block development officers, and police superintendents, are being utilized to threaten citizens and suppress political opposition.

Banerjee further claimed that the state government is providing legal resources, such as stamp papers and notarized affidavits, to assist BJP supporters while obstructing similar facilities for Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers. She also reported increased police atrocities against party members and stated that individuals attempting to visit her office are being prevented from doing so.

In preparation for upcoming urban civic body elections in West Bengal, Banerjee has directed party leaders to compile district-wise reports of local leaders and workers who remain loyal to her faction. These lists are intended to finalize candidates for the polls and to support legal claims before the Election Commission of India regarding the party’s original name and electoral symbol.
