Mamata Banerjee condemns arrest of BJP officials in Delhi

West Bengal former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has strongly condemned the arrest of BJP officials Sourav Das, Ashutosh Ranka, and Ajingya by Delhi Police. The arrests occurred after the individuals allegedly entered Jantar Mantar, a site traditionally used for protests, despite recent police restrictions and the designation of alternative locations for demonstrations.

The arrested officials have been placed in five-day police custody following their appearance in court. In a social media post, Banerjee described the arrests as an attempt to intimidate and silence an entire generation. She asserted that constitutional rights must be defended and accused the government of undermining democratic principles.

Banerjee further claimed that similar democratic violations are occurring in various parts of the country, specifically alleging that 14,000 people in West Bengal are facing threats from police forces.
