Mamata Banerjee Confirmed as TMC President in Official List Filed with Election Commission

The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) submitted a new slate of office‑bearers to India's Election Commission, listing Mamata Banerjee as party president and Abhishek Banerjee as national general secretary. The filing also names Subrata Bakshi as vice‑president and includes several members of the party's national executive.

A rebel faction within TMC, led by legislator Arup Roy, convened a separate special session in Kolkata, electing Roy as its own president and offering Mamata Banerjee the role of chief adviser. The dissenting group claims the move is necessary after the previous national executive's term expired, and it has announced its intent to inform the Election Commission of its decisions. The commission’s final ruling on which leadership structure will be recognized remains pending, while the split follows a recent defeat in the West Bengal assembly election and the defection of about 20 MPs and MLAs.

The internal dispute highlights a deepening crisis in the party that could affect West Bengal politics and the TMC's position at the national level.
