Mamata Banerjee denies political retirement, accuses BJP of threats
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee has clarified via Facebook Live that she has no intention of retiring from politics. She stated her goal is to continue her political struggle until the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is marginalized.
Banerjee raised several allegations against the current administration in West Bengal. She claimed the census process is a covert attempt to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) without consulting political parties. She also accused the government of reducing beneficiaries for the Annapurna Bhandar women's financial assistance scheme by using ineligibility as a pretext, noting that approximately 75 percent of women have reportedly stopped receiving payments since the election.
Additionally, Banerjee accused Suvendu Adhikari of threatening her, claiming he stated in a public setting that he would ensure she could not leave her home. She has called upon the President of India and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to intervene, describing the alleged threat as an attack on constitutional rights and democracy. Regarding voter lists, she mentioned that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) matter is currently under consideration by the Supreme Court.
