Mamata Banerjee faces BJP criticism over legal appearances and alleged chaos in West Bengal

Uttar Pradesh minister Surendra Diler claimed that West Bengal experienced widespread chaos and violence during former chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s tenure, saying attacks were common and cases were often suppressed. He asserted that the situation has now improved and the state is “recovering.”

BJP spokesperson Debjit Ghosh responded to Banerjee’s recent appearance in the Calcutta High Court as a lawyer, arguing that she was not registered with the Bar Council of India and therefore violated professional rules. He called for the matter to be closed and for action against any unregistered practice of law.

Both statements reflect heightened political tensions in West Bengal, with the ruling BJP questioning Banerjee’s conduct and legacy.
