Mamata Banerjee urged to prioritize TMC amid mass defections

Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Riju Dutta told Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that she should remain in West Bengal and concentrate on rebuilding the party. He said the TMC has been reduced to a "signboard", citing that out of 28 TMC MPs, 22 have left the party, four have resigned from the Lok Sabha, and additional resignations are possible. Similarly, around 65‑70 of the party’s 80 state legislators have departed.

Dutta urged the BJP to be defeated through democratic elections and called for a hard line against Abhishek Banerjee, accusing him of inciting unrest. He requested that central and state authorities take strict action, noting that the CID is investigating past incendiary speeches by Banerjee and that multiple FIRs have been filed against her.
