Mameki Fest energizes Tunceli with cultural, sport and economic boost

The Mameki Fest, a five‑day cultural, sport and arts festival, opened in Tunceli on 5 August and will run through 9 August. The programme includes folk dances, traditional songs, concerts, sport activities, children’s programmes and nature‑based events staged across multiple venues in the city.

Governor Şefik Aygöl said the festival aims to enliven social life and support the local economy and merchants. The event has attracted visitors from across Turkey and abroad, and features contributions from local scholars such as Prof. Dr. Evrim Ölçer Öznel, who highlighted the role of storytelling and folk tales. Organisers expect the festival to boost tourism, cultural awareness and economic activity in the region.
