Mamelodi Sundowns defeat Golden Arrows in Carling Knockout Cup

Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 1-0 victory against Golden Arrows at Loftus Versfeld Stadium to advance in the Carling Knockout Cup. Iqraam Rayners scored the decisive goal in the 69th minute, heading in a cross from Antonio van Wyk.

Following the match, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso described the encounter as a tactical battle characterized by high intensity and a difficult defensive structure from Golden Arrows. Cardoso noted that his team focused on shifting play across the pitch to penetrate the opposition's defense.

Golden Arrows, led by head coach Mandla Ncikazi, recently returned to the club following Ncikazi's tenure at Orlando Pirates. Despite the loss, the match sets the stage for the quarterfinals, where Sundowns will look to secure their first Knockout Cup title since the 2019/20 season.
