Mamelodi West police investigate double murder of 14-year-old twins
Police in Mamelodi West, Pretoria, have launched an investigation into the double murder of 14-year-old twin brothers, Bothlale and Bonolo Makena. The victims were found with multiple stab wounds inside their home on Friday, October 2, after their mother discovered them in a bedroom upon returning from work.
Investigators have reported that there were no immediate signs of forced entry at the residence, and a motive for the attack has not yet been established. Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that forensic experts have processed the crime scene and that detectives are currently following a new lead that may help clarify the circumstances of the killings. No suspects have been taken into custody at this time.
The community and local religious leaders have expressed shock over the incident. Bishop Mashilo Mangena of the Ethiopian Catholic Church noted that the twins were active members of the church and were preparing for confirmation. Government officials have urged residents to refrain from spreading unverified information on social media and have called for anyone with information to contact the authorities.
