Man arrested after confessing to fatal shooting in Campo Grande

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Campo Grande after confessing to the shooting death of an 18-year-old in the Monte Castelo neighborhood. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 10.

During police testimony, the suspect claimed he acted in self-defense. He stated that while walking with his pregnant wife, he was approached by four men in a vehicle regarding a dispute over a stolen television. The suspect alleged that one of the men attempted to draw a .32 caliber revolver, which then fell from the vehicle. The suspect claimed he seized the weapon and fired shots to scare the group away, though the victim was struck and died after running approximately 1.2 kilometers.

Police recovered a Smith & Wesson .32 caliber revolver with a suppressed serial number, which the suspect had reportedly hidden in a recycling establishment. The suspect was located by tactical police units hiding in a neighboring property.
