São Paulo Military Police officers face legal proceedings

Legal proceedings are advancing against several members of the São Paulo Military Police regarding high-profile deaths.

The Justification Council, which evaluates the expulsion of Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, has been postponed. The official is accused of feminicide and procedural fraud following the death of his wife, Gisele Alves Santana. Rosa Neto has claimed that a video used as evidence, showing him appearing to point a gun at his own head, was a product of artificial intelligence.

Separately, the Military Justice Court is conducting the trial of Captain Francisco Laroca and Corporal Fabiano Rizzo. They are accused of the qualified homicide of Sergeant Rullian Ricardo da Silva, which occurred inside a barracks in 2023 following a dispute over work shifts. While the defendants claim self-defense, the victim's family contests this version, citing a lack of evidence for the claim.
