Man arrested for arson with motorized brushcutter in Alfândega da Fé, Portugal

A 46‑year‑old man was detained after a fire broke out in the village of Cabreira, Alfândega da Fé, when a motorized brushcutter equipped with a metal disc ignited dry vegetation during cleaning work. The blaze started around 15:40 on Wednesday and took until the early hours of Thursday to be fully contained, prompting the deployment of more than 140 emergency personnel and ten aerial units. Two active fronts of the fire were fought, one near Gouveia in the Macedo de Cavaleiros municipality and another near Cardanha in the Torre de Moncorvo municipality, leading to a 12‑hour road closure between the two localities. The suspect will appear before the Mogadouro Judicial Court for precautionary measures.
