Man arrested for attempted bank robbery in Ciudad Victoria
State Guard members arrested a man following an attempted robbery at a BBVA bank branch in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. The individual allegedly entered the branch on Adolfo López Mateos Boulevard and threatened a cashier with a firearm, causing the staff to activate a panic button.
Authorities arrived at the scene and detained the suspect inside the bank. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was not actually carrying a firearm despite his threats. The suspect arrived at the location in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee without license plates and reportedly left documents at the scene.
Following his arrest, the man claimed he was a victim of extortion and was being forced by others to commit the robbery. The Tamaulipas State Security Spokesperson confirmed the police intervention, and authorities are investigating his claims to determine if there is a connection to organized crime.
