Man arrested after knife threat on ‘Miami Vice ’85’ film set

A 23-year-old man, identified as Alex Perez, was arrested on Friday night after allegedly brandishing a large butcher knife on the set of the upcoming film ‘Miami Vice ’85’ in Brooklyn, New York.

The incident occurred around 11:00 PM near the intersection of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue. According to the NYPD and reports from TMZ, Perez entered the filming area and engaged in a verbal altercation with a 42-year-old production staff member. Video footage reportedly shows a staffer attempting to escort Perez away before he pulled a large knife from his sweatshirt pocket.

Perez was taken into custody without further incident, though reports indicate he directed racial slurs toward staff members while being handcuffed. He faces charges of second-degree menacing with a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities noted that Perez has a criminal history involving five previous arrests for alleged gang-related activities, burglary, and assault with a firearm.

No injuries were reported during the confrontation. The production, which stars Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler and is directed by Joseph Kosinski, was reportedly disrupted for the remainder of the evening. The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on May 19, 2028.
